You don't need to fit into a specific category to reach out. If you've been wondering whether therapy is for you, that wondering is already enough of a reason to begin. What I offer is a space that adapts to you, not one you have to adapt to.

That said, my background and training have given me particular attunement to certain experiences. Below are the communities and concerns I feel most prepared to walk alongside.

Change & Emotional Overwhelm

Life is rarely as linear as we plan for it to be. Sometimes what overwhelms us is a clear and sudden change, a job loss, a move, a relationship ending. Other times, it's an accumulation: a quiet, persistent sense that something is off, that we're not where we thought we'd be, or that we're carrying more than we can hold.

Therapy can be a space to pause, to name what's actually happening, and to reconnect with what matters. You don't have to have the words yet. We can find them together.

This includes:

  • Life transitions (career, relationships, identity)
  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional exhaustion
  • Grief and loss
  • Feeling stuck or disconnected
  • Burnout and overwhelm
  • Depression and low mood

"Therapy can be a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself."

"I understand the quiet complexities of carrying multiple identities and cultures."

Cultural Identity & Belonging

Growing up between cultures, or moving between them as an adult, can leave you feeling like you belong everywhere and nowhere at once. The language you use, the food you eat, the way you grieve, these are not small things. They are the texture of who you are.

As an immigrant from China, now living in Victoria, BC, I hold this experience from the inside. I understand what it means to navigate identity across languages, to carry intergenerational expectations, and to feel the weight of being perceived as "other."

我理解身处两种文化之间的那种复杂感受,既属于这里,又属于那里,却有时两处都不完全属于。

This includes:

  • Immigration and cultural adjustment
  • Intergenerational conflict and family dynamics
  • Bicultural and third-culture identity
  • Experiences of racism and discrimination
  • Belonging, displacement, and longing
  • Political and collective grief (including diaspora)

Gender, Sexuality & Self

Questions of who we are, in our bodies, in our desires, in how we move through the world, deserve a space of real safety and genuine affirmation. Not tolerance. Not neutrality. Affirmation.

My practice is queer-affirming, trans-inclusive, and shaped by a commitment to creating space where you don't have to explain or justify who you are before we can begin the actual work. You are welcome here, exactly as you are.

This includes:

  • Gender identity exploration and transition
  • Sexual orientation and coming out
  • Navigating identity within family and culture
  • Minority stress and community grief
  • Relationship structures (polyamory, chosen family)
  • Self-acceptance and identity integration

"You are welcome here, exactly as you are."

If you don't see yourself here

The areas above reflect where I have the deepest training and lived experience, but they are not a limit. If you're wondering whether I might be a good fit for something not listed here, please reach out. It would be my pleasure to connect and explore it together.
